Tall Tree Snowy Scene Card

The tree trunks in this card takes me a few days to figure out how to create with my limited card making supplies. So here's what I did.

I first took a piece of masking paper same size as the card and drew the trees and the hill. I then cut out the shapes I drew and masked off all the areas except the trees. I don't have woodgrain background stamp, so I used the only stamp I have that has woodgrain and repeatedly stamp them using a brown momento ink. It needs to be a Copic friendly ink because after stamping, I used a c0 marker to color all the trees. I wanted the tress to be same color as the background so that they are not overpowering. At this point, trees are completed.

For the background, I applied distress ink salty ocean, faded jeans, peacock feathers and a tiny bit of black soot. To create the snowy look, I splattered some water and wiped them off. I also used snow stencil to apply white embossing paste. At the end, I stamped a few grey snowflakes but I actually regretted it because the grey tone was darker than I wanted it to be.

For the sentiment, I embossed the word die cut with plantinum embossing powder. It gives a warm tone at certain angles. In the picture, it just looks like silver.

I'm submitting this card to the following challenges.

  • Mama Elephant Whimsical winter stamp set (ME)
